Yesterday I recorded a guest spot on The Constant Reader podcast with host Richard Sheppard, tackling the cancerous old curiosity shop that is Stephen King’s Needful Things. As always it was a pleasure to drop by and discuss books, horror, bargaining with the Devil and other such homely stuff. The episode should air around Christmas time.
That discussion prompted me to publish an old flash piece I’d written entitled Unwanted Baggage that was in some small and deranged way inspired by Needful Things and Leland Gaunt.
There are now 7 stories up and published online here, with two more coming soon: A Warm Heart, a dark fantasy about a contract killer trailing his first mark and contemplating the moral code by which he should abide in this new profession; and Friends Without Faces, about a lonely salesman who checks into the haunted Lake Manor Hotel and gets more company than he bargained for.
Also, some exciting news about Man O’War will be following quite soon.
